Transform

Petro Station has been transformed from under-utilised farmland to an institutional grade dryland cropping operation. Significant investment into infrastructure, soil health and AgTech has improved farm layout and operational efficiencies to increase yield quality and quantity.

Impact

Quality Soils

Predominantly comprises high quality, free draining, red sandy loam soils, which support Belah-Buloke-Pine tree species.

Sustainability

Sustainable farming practices, such as no-till farming, have been implemented. ~12,525ha has been set aside under a Biodiversity Conservation Agreement, to protect native flora and fauna.

Infrastructure

$2M investment in key infrastructure upgrades, including accommodation, grain storage, WH&S infrastructure, and weather stations, have improved farm layout and production efficiencies.

“Petro has some of the most productive soils of all dryland cropping types in the Mallee. They are free draining loamy soils that have the capacity to store water”
